Damta, Uttarakhand: At least 11 people lost their lives and 13 others were injured on Sunday after a bus they were travelling in fell into a gorge near Damta on Uttarkashi-Yaumotri Highway on Sunday.
The private-run bus was travelling from Jankikatti in the district to Vikas Nagar when the incident occurred and the bus plunged into a 150-meter-deep gorge near Damta, news agency PTI quoted District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan as saying.

Chauhan told the news agency that while 10 people died at the spot, two others later succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. Meanwhile, the police had launched a search-and-rescue operation which was being aided by the local residents from the area, the reports said.
The injured persons have been shifted to AIIMS Rishikesh and the Himalayan Hospital at Jolly Grant.
As per reports, four of the injured were rushed to Dehradun in a chopper. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat reportedly expressed his grief at the loss of lives in the accident and directed the district administration to arrange for the treatment of those who had been injured in the accident.
