Hanumangarh, Rajasthan: Can you believe that a person can get condoms in response to the information sought through RTI. Incidentally, it happened in Chhanibadi village of Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district.
The RTI applicants received the envelopes that were supposed to contain the information sought under RTI but were shocked to find condoms inside envelopes.
Their families were shocked and the women hung their heads in shame.
Manohar Lal and Vikas Chaudhury of village Chhanibadi had sought five years’ record from village panchayat under RTI. But the record was not provided. The duo lodged a complaint with Information Commission.
The Commission directed the panchayat to provide the information sought under RTI. Few days later, the petitioners received letters from the concerned village panchayat. But they found condoms and pieces of a newspaper inside when they opened the envelopes.
Information sought was provided: village development officer
However panchayat village development officer Madan Lal said the information sought had been provided. He said it appears to be the doing of applicants.
Lal said the information was sent on January 11 but they disclosed it two days later on January 13. If they had received condoms, why they didn’t inform the same day, he asked.
Hanumangarh district council CEO Navneet Kumar said he had talked with BDO and asked him to prepare a report.
