Deepika Padukone chooses to release her film on acid attack survivor alongside Devgn’s period drama

Deepika Padukone is turning producer with Chappak. The actress will also be seen playing acid attack survivor Lakshmi Aggarwal in the film. The makers are starting the shoot in Delhi this week and have released the first look of Deepika in the film. They have also blocked the release date for next year, January 10.

Incidentally, a day ago Ajay Devgn too has announced that his historical drama Taanhaji based on life of Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare has been pushed to next year. It will release on January 10. The film was to release in November this year but since it will take some time for makers to finish VFX work, they have chosen to push it for next year.

A trade expert says,” One of the reasons why the makers are banking on this day is that, this year Vicky Kaushal’s Uri has broken a jinxed of new year and has ended up doing exceptional business at box office. Earlier, it was witnessed that the films released in first two weeks of January never did well at box office. “

Deepika’s film is directed by Meghna Gulzar and stars Vikrant Massey. Taanhaji on the other hand is a multi -starrer and will see Kajol, Saif Ali Khan, Suniel Shetty and others.
