Kin appeal to AAP MP to secure her release

Sangrur (Punjab): The sister and daughter of a woman belonging to Kajhli village of Sangrur district have urged AAP MP Bhagwat Man to get her released. The woman has been held captive for the last eight months at a house in Oman where she is forced to work for long hours against her wish and she is threatened that her tongue would be sliced off whenever she opposes.

Was promised homecare job in Singapore

Victim’s daughter Sandeep Kaur said that her mother Rani Kaur was promised a homecare’s job in Singapore by a woman of the village but was instead sent to Oman. The police personnel deployed at the house where she was sent to work snatched her passport and the she has been held captive. She said her mother has informed over phone that she is suffering so much that would die if not rescued.

Sandeep said she receives mother’s phone only once in a week. She is not allowed to talk freely as some people stand near her mother whenever she talks over the phone. However, a woman living nearby helps the mother and makes the phone call for her.

Husband doesn’t want her to return

Sandeep Kaur said she has three sisters and a younger brother. She said a man belonging to Barnala deposits Rs 20,000 every month in their account. So father does not want mother to return to India.

Agent charged Rs 50,000

Victim’s sister Gurjit Kaur said a woman of the village had charged Rs 50,000 to send Rani to Singapore but instead sent her to Oman. She said she asked the woman to bring the sister back from Oman but she refused to help saying she only sends people abroad and does not bring them back from there.

AAP leader to take up issue with Swaraj

AAP MP Bhagwat Man said jobs are not available in Punjab. So youngsters want to go abroad and are exploited. He said he would take up the issue with the Foreign Minister.
