Mumbai: The state-wide bandh called by Maratha groups has affected the television industry with some shoots being disrupted and few being cancelled as a precautionary measure.
Shoots of shows like Ye Hai Mohabbatein, Kalireein and Jiji Maa have been affected in Goregaon and Mira Road respectively.
“Because of the Maratha band, few protesters came on the sets of Aapke Aa Jaane Se, located at Mira Road and requested the team to stop the shooting. The shot is on halt now, but since there are no bank episodes; the team wants to resume the shooting as soon as possible. However, looking at the current scenario, they are waiting for the entire situation to calm down. If it doesn’t, then they will have to cancel the shoot,” a source from the set reveals.
Considering the bandh on Thursday, the team of Ekta Kapoor’s Ye Hai Mohabbatein had decided to cancel the shoot a day before itself. “Due to Maharashta bandh, the makers have announced a day-off as a precautionary measure since they did not want any of their team members suffer the situation,” a channel spokesperson informs.
Other shows that have been cancelled due to the bandh are Jiji Maa and Kaleerein. “We had a shift timing of 11 in the morning and while I was just getting ready for it, I was informed that the shoot has been cancelled due to bandh. Obviously, the makers don’t want to take a risk and so decided to call if off,” says Kaleerien actor Arjit Taneja.
