Amritsar: Avneet Kaur, 18 of the city has won an entry in the Limca Book of Records for not missing her school for a single day in 13 years and 8 months. A student of Ajit Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School, she cleared her class 12 examination this year.
She studied in the school from nursery to class 12. After she passed out, the school principal Rama Mahajan took up her case with the Limca Book and they agreed that it was a record. She received the certificate on Monday.
Avneet did not miss her school even when her grandmother died. She was in class seven then, “My Dadi was very insistent that I should go to school everyday. So I thought it would be disrespectful to her if I will give the classes the skip on the day of her death,” she said. Avneet said that when she had an injury in her leg, her father used to lift her from the auto-rickshaw and seat her in the class. “I had decided that I will not miss the school when I was in nursery,” she said.

She has now taken admission in the B. Tech (Electronics and Communication) course in the Guru Nanak Dev University. She plans to do a doctorate in engineering. And intends to continue will her record of giving her classes a miss in the college too.
