Dhaka: With all eyes on the September 19 India-Pakistan match in the Cricket Asian cup, here is how you can enjoy the heat of Indo-Pak rivalry on Wednesday itself, as the football teams of the two nations meet in the semi-finals of the South Asian Federation Football (SAFF) championship.
It has been a smooth championship for India with consecutive 2-0 wins against Sri Lanka and Maldives. The blue tigers have proven themselves as a superior side tactically against their opponents, however, their only concern are no goals coming from their strikers as Vineet Rai and Farukh Chaudhary need to push themselves more in the field.
It has been a disappointing start for the Pakistani side as they lost their first match against Bangladesh 1-0. However, they had a fine recovery in their match against Bhutan which they won 3-0, thereby qualifying for semi-finals against India. Whichever side wins this semi-final will face Maldives in the finals of the SAFF championship on September 15.
SAFF is the main association football competition of the men’s national football teams governed by the South Asian Football Federation. India has been the most successful side in the SAFF championship winning the title seven times. Even the previous SAFF championship held in 2015 was won by India.
