This year’s IIFA might not be very star-studded. Here’s why

With several Bollywood celebs out of India, the award ceremony might not see the presence of many stars.

Mumbai: This year’s International Indian Film Academy awards will be held in Bangkok, Thailand this weekend.

All this while the ceremony used to be a star studded affair, but has not been too much of a buzz about the three day gala this time. The reason could apparently be lack of star presence as many actors might not be able to attend the event.

Salman Khan has been attending the ceremony and even made a special appearance in the film Welcome To New York, which was based on the award events. However he has been traveling to US and Canada and has already flown out of country with Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha, Jacqueline Fernandez and Prabhudeva.

Apart from Salman, Ranveer Singh is also shooting for his film Simmba with Rohit Shetty, so there is a possibility that he might not be able to be a part of the function. Shah Rukh Khan too has just returned back to India after wrapping up his film Zero after 45 days. His chances of attending IIFA are less, but since he shares a good rapport with the organisers, and he might just drop in on the last day. There is no confirmation on it though.

Amitabh Bachchan and family too are not expected to attend the function, as they have been staying away from the ceremony from past few years.

This year, the celebrity performers include Sahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Rekha, Bobby Deol, Ilulia Vantur and others. Karan Johar is expected to host the show like every year.
