Indore: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday filed a charge sheet against the two accused in the alleged kidnapping and gang rape of an eight-year-old girl in Mandsaur on June 26.
The SIT filed the charge sheet, running into over 350 pages, in the court of additional district and sessions judge Nisha Gupta.
Apprehending public outrage and security issues, the accused Irfan alias Bhaiyu (20) and Asif (24) were not produced in the court in person. They were, instead, presented before judge Gupta through video conferencing. The charge sheet contains 100 documents and statements of 92 witnesses, including doctors, police said.
Senior police officers claimed that there is enough evidence against the accused in the charge sheet, though DB Post was unable to access the details.
The survivor is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital in Indore, where her condition is improving.
Lawyers refuse to appear for accused
- All lawyers practicing at district and sessions court, Mandsaur, have decided not to represent the accused.
- Though, district legal aide has appointed a lawyer to appear for the accused, he has refused to do so.
