Bobby Deol joins Sanjay Dutt in gangster drama

Sanjay Dutt has been approached to play the role of Karim Lala and Bobby has been finalised to play Samad Khan, Lala's infamous nephew.

Mumbai: Bobby Deol who started his second inning in the film industry recently with Race 3, has definitely managed to get noticed, as he has been getting lot of work offers thereafter. The latest film which he has singed is a yet-to-be-titled gangster drama, directed by Adnaan Shaikh.

A source says, “A few days ago Ahmed Khan and Prerna Arora announced their upcoming film based on the life of Karim Lala. Sanjay Dutt has been approached to play the title role in the film and now Bobby has been finalised to play Samad Khan, Lala’s infamous nephew. The makers thought that he fits the bill perfectly and Bobby too liked the role. The official announcement on the cast is still awaited.”

While a person close to the project confirms the news, producer Ahmed Khan says, “The film is not completely based on real life characters, and I still have to meet Bobby.”

Samad Khan was known to be sinister contract killer. He was Lala’s nephew but at one point of time Lala had stated in one of his statements that his nephew is unnecessarily using his name and he has no connection to his activities. However, when Samad was killed by Dawood Ibrahim’s gang outside his residence, Karim attended his funeral along with some 2000 people. It was said that Samad would charge Rs 1.5 to 2 lakh to kill one person. He was responsible for killing at least 10 people but managed to stay out of jail all his life.
