Anu Malik asked me for a kiss when I was 15: Shweta Pandit’s #MeToo story

In the Twitter post, Shweta termed the music composer a “paedophile” and “sexual predator”.

New Delhi: In the ongoing #MeToo campaign, Singer Shweta Pandit accused Anu Malik of seeking sexual favours in exchange of work. Through a social media post, the singer shared a detailed account of the incident – which purportedly happened during her first visit to Empire studio in Andheri.

Further, in the Twitter post, Shweta termed the music composer a “paedophile” and “sexual predator”.

“Had to go back to my worst memory as a teenage girl today to write this and speak up – it’s now or never. This is my #MeToo and have to warn young girls about #AnuMalik & let you know your #TimesUp @IndiaMeToo Thank you @sonamohapatra for speaking up about him & supporting this (sic),” her statement read.

Shweta explained in her note about the incident that had happened 17 years back. She said she got a call from Anu Malik’s then manager, Mustafa to come to Empire Studio in 2001. She went there with her mom.

“He told me to wait in the small cabin inside where singers sang at Empire studio, it was just him and me there,” the singer wrote.

The singer further states that Malik demanded a kiss after post audition on the pretext of offering her a song.

“ I’ll give you this song with Sunidhi and Shaan but first give me a kiss now, ”she further wrote.

Additionally, the singer urged other women to come forward and share their stories.

Sona Mohapatra came in support of Shweta Pandit and shared a post on twitter.

“Sending you love, big healing and strength @ShwetaPandit7. That #AnuMalik did this to you as a child is something #India has to make note of. Thank you so much for being brave and bringing this out in the open. I know how difficult that is and the pressure to let ‘bygones be bygones,” Mahapatra wrote in her Twitter post.
