Angry locals torch city school bus after it runs over 5-yr-old girl in MP

Driver of speeding off duty bus did not see her; arrested within an hour 

Bhopal: In a tragic incident, a speeding school bus crushed a 5-year-old girl to death in the city’s Arif Nagar area on Thursday. The off-duty bus of Sagar Public School was set ablaze by angry locals soon after the accident, while the driver was arrested within an hour of the incident.

The deceased, identified as Kulsum Khan, a Class I student, and the daughter of a labourer, was rushed to Hamidia Hospital, but doctors declared her brought dead.

ASP zone 3, Rajesh Bhadauria said the incident took place at 3.30 pm, when the driver Md. Sadique was returning home after dropping students at their respective houses. After the accident, the driver fled the spot. Angry locals torched the bus, and demanded the immediate arrest of Sadique, a resident of the same locality.

School extends help to family

Bhadauria said the school administration gave Rs50,000 as immediate help to the deceased’s family. The district administration, too, gave Rs10,000.
