Jaipur: A Mother and Child Care Unit built at Jaipuria Hospital to provide better treatment and facilities to the pregnant women at a cost of Rs 30 lakh is yet to become functional, even nearly 40 days after it was dedicated to the public by the minister.
Rajasthan’s Medical and Health Minister Kalicharan Saraf had dedicated the unit on 30 June. Deliveries and other operations were to be performed in the unit’s operation theatre (OT) but soon after its dedication a door of the OT broke down and it is yet to be repaired.
OT used for having meals
People use the OT and the PAC (pre-anaesthetic check-up) room for having meals. There is no restriction on entry of animals. Family members of patients can be seen lying on the floor of SLR (septic labour room). The OT has table and other medical equipments worth lakhs and they are not being taken care of properly.
Would start working in a week
Jaipuria Hospital Superintendent Dr Rekha Singh said OT’s door has been repaired and fumigation is in progress. The OT would start working in a week, she said.
